The Faculty of Economics Hosts 1st Alumni Gathering 2025

On August 27, 2025, the Faculty of Economics at Al-Taqwa University proudly hosted the Alumni Gathering 2025, an inspiring evening that brought together graduates from different years, faculty members, and current students. The event served not only as a chance to reconnect but also as a platform to reflect on shared achievements and envision future collaborations. Faculty members highlighted the growth and achievements of the Economics Faculty and shared the vision for strengthening alumni engagement. Fun games and trivia helped alumni reconnect and relive their university memories. Alumni shared their professional journeys, experiences, and advice with current students, creating valuable mentorship connections. The gathering reinforced the importance of alumni as an integral part of the Al-Taqwa family. Plans were discussed to establish an Alumni Network Platform that will create opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, internships, and career development. The Faculty of Economics is committed to organizing more regular alumni events, workshops, and joint initiatives that will strengthen the bridge between the university and its graduates. Al-Taqwa University is Ranked in the Times Higher Education World Impact Ranking 2025

We are thrilled to announce that Al-Taqwa University is ranked by the Times Higher Education Impact Raking 2025 for its commitment to help in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Afghanistan. The Times Higher Education (THE) published the Impact Rankings 2025, recognizing global universities for their efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With more than 2318 universities from 100 countries submitting data across the 17 SDGs, The THE's Impact Rankings is the most accurate and biggest ever picture of universities' Impacts in the areas of research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching for the SDGs. In the overall ranking, Al-Taqwa University has grabbed a good ranking position in world's leading universities. In the SDGs ranking, Al-Taqwa University is ranked 601-800 out of 1267 universities for SDG 1: No Poverty and Quality Education.  “The Times Higher Education World Impact Rankings provides an opportunity for universities to highlight the positive work they are doing for society in terms of sustainability, health and well-being, Justice and economic growth," said Mr. Khushal Jawad, Al-Tawa University's Chancellor. "It’s great to see that we have secured such a high global impact ranking despite a significant increase in the number of entries for 2025," said Mr. Bakhtyar Haleemi, Al-Taqwa University’s Vice Chancellor for Academic affairs.  Al-Taqwa University has made sustainability a top priority for the university integrated with its' research, practices, teaching, and strategic partnerships. Al-Taqwa University's Sustainability club is responsible for advancing the SDGs at the university and leading the process to plan, coordinate, and compile data for the university's application to THE Impact Rankings. In 2025, Al-Taqwa University published its second SDGs report 2024-2025, highlighting the institution's contributions towards achieving the SDGs. Research Findings Presented at Academic Seminar: Exploring Key Economic and Cultural Topics

An insightful research seminar was recently held at Al Taqwa University, drawing active participation from both faculty members and students. The seminar, organized by the Faculty of Economics, provided a platform for discussing two critical research topics with substantial relevance to the region’s economic and cultural dynamics: Pak-Afghan Bilateral Trade and Its Impact on Pakistan's Economy The Role of Sustainable Tourism in Preserving the Cultural Heritage of Afghanistan: A Comprehensive Review Assistant Professor Mr. Wasiq Ullah Hamdard, a distinguished faculty member from the Faculty of Economics, delivered an in-depth presentation on both research studies. His comprehensive overview covered the following key elements of the research process: Introduction to the Study Problem Statement Objectives of the Research Formulation of Hypotheses Review of Related Literature Research Methodology Empirical Models Applied Estimation and Analysis of Results Conclusions and Policy Recommendations Throughout his presentation, Mr. Hamdard highlighted the economic and cultural significance of both research topics, particularly the potential of Pak-Afghan bilateral trade to foster economic growth and the role of sustainable tourism in preserving Afghanistan's rich cultural heritage. His analysis emphasized the importance of regional cooperation, with a special focus on how these initiatives could positively impact the economies of both Pakistan and Afghanistan. The session concluded with a lively and interactive Q&A segment, where participants comprising both faculty and students posed insightful questions. Mr. Hamdard responded thoughtfully, further enriching the seminar experience and providing deeper clarity on the topics discussed. This seminar not only contributed valuable insights to the academic community but also reinforced the Faculty of Economics' commitment to exploring research that bridges economic theory with real-world applications.
